We list here below the links to the approved documents which were submitted by the 4MOST Consortium as 4MOST survey management plan (SMP). These documents were reviewed by the Public Survey Panel chaired by Prof. M. Mass-Hesse, the ESO survey team, the ESO-4MOST project scientist and the VLT programme scientist. The 4MOST SMP was approved during the OPC meeting on Nov 19th, 2024. The SMP documents describe the timeline of the public releases, the project organisation, the preparation and data acquistition, the data processing and publication of the science data products. Their publication is carried out as fulfillment of the ESO science policies for public surveys.

The documents are:

  1. Public data release plan (here)
  2. Project organisation (here)
  3. Front-end Operations (here)
  4. Back-end Operations (here)
  5. Individual survey management plan - to be published in Q2-2025 following optimised simulations

In accordance with the ESO science policies for public surveys, the raw data product files will be immediately public. Here interested users can find relevant information on the definition, provenance of targets and object identifications in the 4MOST data flow.
