Deze overzichtsfoto van de heldere ster Alfa Centauri en omgeving is samengesteld uit opnamen van de Digitized Sky Survey 2. De ster lijkt zo groot, omdat zijn licht wordt verstrooid door de telescoopoptiek en de fotografische emulsie. Alfa Centauri is de meest nabije buur van ons zonnestelsel.
