One of the test CCD detectors for the ESPRESSO instrument

This picture shows an engineering sample of one of the CCD detectors to be used in the cameras of the ESPRESSO instrument. These very large CCD samples were provided by the company e2v and have more than 80 million pixels over an area 92 x 92 millimetres.
