I will present detailed modelling results for NGC 3379, an ordinary elliptical galaxy whose PN kinematics indicate little dark matter in their outskirts. I will examine the implications of the apparent scanty dark halos seen in several galaxies, and also review the amount of rotation seen in the outer parts of elliptical galaxies. I will further discuss complementary probes of halos, including globular clusters and x-ray emission.
