Our knowledge of the number and distribution of PNe in the Local Group
galaxies is reviewed, with particular emphasis on the recent data
obtained by the "Local Group Census", a narrowband imaging survey
carried out at the 2.5m INT telescope at La Palma.
The number and absolute magnitude of PNe as a function of the
luminosity, star formation history, and metallicity of the parent
galaxies, are discussed.
